Our Mission

WHAT’S OUR MISSION?
The Goal of Coffee House Writers Group is to help writers at all levels sharpen their craft, find useful writing resources and connect with other writers.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Our main purpose is to provide a supportive environment for writers to hone their craft, whether they are putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) for the first time or seasoned pros with a few best sellers under their belts. Writing is a solitary journey. There is no end destination and no competition. However, it gets a little lonely at times and we writers can all benefit from sharing our experiences.

The group is open to anyone who identifies as a writer or who wishes to be around writers. You do not have to be a writer working on a current project in order to join or attend the meetings. The only requirement for membership is a love of writing and the desire to be a supportive and positive influence.

The Coffee House Writers Group is first and foremost a community of writers.
Our goals are…

To create safe, supportive communities throughout the world, where writers can hone their craft and support and mentor their peers.

To provide networking and promotional opportunities for writers interesting in pursuing a path to publishing their work through conferences, workshops, critique groups and other forums.

To encourage people of all ages, from all walks of life, to realize their dreams of being writers through educational programs, support groups, scholarships and literacy programs aimed at helping people become better writers.

Spread the word! The more people who find out about our group, the more people will join and the more support it will get. So follow us on Facebook page or tell your writer friends.

Since our humble beginnings in 2009, the Coffee House Writers Group has continuously expanded throughout California. At the close of 2014, we saw the start of our newest chapter in Long Beach and have another chapter coming soon.

The literary world is exploding with the popularity of online books and the ease of self-publishing. CHWG offers a safe haven where writers can be assured that they are not being preyed upon. Membership is free and workshops are free or donation-based. We offer advice and recommendations for those interested in self-publishing or taking the more traditional route. Many of our members have gone on to publish books, either through their own endeavors or through contracts with publishers.
